Prime Video’s violent superhero series, “The Boys,” recently announced that season five will be the last, but that won’t stop the universe from expanding. Today, during “The Boys” San Diego Comic-Con panel, it was announced that Prime Video has ordered the prequel series “Vought Rising.”
If that’s not intriguing enough, two familiar faces will lead the series.
“Vought Rising” will star Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who play Soldier Boy and Stormfront, respectively. The pair will also serve as producers on the upcoming series.
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V,” said executive producer Eric Kripke and series showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong.
Paul Grellong will serve as showrunner and executive producer.
Plot details have yet to be revealed at this time, though the title and its leads make it pretty clear that the prequel spinoff will further explore the origins of the corrupt Vought International.
Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and Michaela Starr also serve as executive producers on the series. The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Kripke Enterprises, Point Grey Pictures, and Original Film.
“Vought Rising” joins previous spinoff series “The Boys Presents: Diabolical” and “Gen V.”
You can catch up on all seasons of “The Boys” as well as its spinoff series, now on Prime Video.
