Red Hook Studios has unleashed pain and suffering ahead of the real hurt later this week with the launch trailer for Darkest Dungeon II. The follow-up to 2016’s gothic roguelike turn-based RPG hit arrives in Early Access on the Epic Game Store on October 26th, with the trailer giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
Namely, your party of adventurers getting the crap kicked out of them as they make a last gasp attempt to avert the apocalypse.
Sporting a revamped 3D engine and combat system, Darkest Dungeon II is designed to allow for players to ease into the game before the real hell begins later on. The new Affinity System has your heroes bonding with each other (or the opposite) as your quest progresses, leading to potentially beneficial combat synergies, or soul-crushing dysfunction. That’s on top of the psychological stresses and horrors that will be inflicted upon them throughout the game.
