Residence of Evil took to Twitter (and their YouTube page) to give a little update on their Resident Evil send-up game, Residence of Evil: Vigil. The update goes over development progress, as well as showing off the graphical goodies the team has been working on. If you were amazed at what the team was able to accomplish with their lighting test a few weeks back using the Resident Evil remake, then prepare to be amazed again.
The video is actually the first in a three-part series. The other parts will focus on the gameplay mechanics and demo, which will be released for Patreon supporters and YouTube members once it’s been completed.
As for the video, the team goes over the graphical improvements made during development from last year’s demo. This includes the lighting effects, as well as details in the textures and models, including things like dust particles and debris. The “before and after” shots definitely show a dramatic increase in quality.
Vigil will also make use of dynamic camera angles, which the video also covers. Seeing that Vigil is an homage to you-know-what, the team has tried to balance that classic fixed-camera perspective, while also showcasing the 3D environments. You still can’t see around the proverbial corner, but you can now admire the team’s work.
As for that demo, “soon” is once again the word of the day. RoE hope to have a video ready and details on the game once the build is complete.
