In addition to the big news regarding Quake, Bethesda and developer Arkane Lyon also revealed a new deep-dive video at QuakeCon 2021 for their upcoming shooter, Deathloop. The new video covers the PvP aspects of the game, including the invasion option.
The singleplayer campaign has players take on the role of assassin Colt. However, you’ll occasionally bump into Julianna Blake, who can be AI or player controlled. When playing as Julianna, players can customise her appearance and pick a loadout, and then choose whether to invade the game of a random player or a friend.
While Colt has his Reprise power that allows him to die and come back to life twice, Julianna only has one life. Therefore, Julianna players will have to be smart about their playstyle.
When encountering Julianna, Colt players can either hide or extract from the map, but if you leave the map, you miss out on the rewards for eliminating her. Julianna’s loot can include new weapons, a new power for Colt or an upgrade to an existing power, or Residuum, which is a resource that allows players to keep weapons and abilities across loops.
Deathloop arrives September 14 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
