Developers Dillon Rogers and David Szymanski recently dropped a new video detailing their work on their upcoming Victorian Survival Horror FPS, GLOOMWOOD. The video also drops a vague 2022 Early Access release date on Steam, as well as some good old-fashioned gameplay footage.
In case you missed out on just what GLOOMWOOD is about the first time, the New Blood Interactive-published game was first announced back in 2020 during the PC Gaming Show at E3. The shooter is inspired by classic stealth-action game Thief, and sees sees you trapped in a Victorian city consumed by an ancient curse. You have to rely on stealth, your wits and your array of weapons to survive.
Stealth mechanics include peeking around corners and through cracks in doors, as well as tossing around items to distract enemies. You also have your trusty canesword and six-shot revolver to dispatch enemies.
Anyway, the video features Dillon Rogers talking about the changes made to the game over the past year. These include making improvements to meet that goal of a Thief/Survival Horror hybrid, and to also give the player “more options when responding to different situations”, while retaining the “vulnerability and resource management” of Survival Horror.
So far, GLOOMWOOD is only being developed for PC.
