Tim Burton is bringing The Addams Family to the small screen for a brand new live action series, with Netflix releasing the official trailer for Burton’s “Wednesday” this morning.
Jenna Ortega (Scream, X) stars in the new series as Wednesday Addams, with Luis Guzmán playing Gomez and Catherine Zeta-Jones playing Morticia in Tim Burton’s fresh vision.
Watch the “Wednesday” teaser trailer below, which looks like classic Tim Burton spookiness. And we can’t think of better casting for a new Wednesday Addams than Jenna Ortega!
The new teaser trailer begins with Wednesday unleashing a swarm of piranha in the school swimming pool, which wreaks bloody havoc and gets her expelled. From there, Wednesday is sent off to Nevermore Academy, a home to precisely the type of murder, mystery and mayhem that Wednesday thrives in. The trailer also gives us our first footage of Guzmán and Zeta-Jones as Gomez Addams and Morticia Addams. We think we’re going to love it here…
“Wednesday” premieres on Netflix in Fall 2022.
“Wednesday” is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” It’s said to follow…
“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”
Christina Ricci will also appear in the show, playing a brand new role.
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) are writing and showrunning. Burton is directing.
Wednesday Addams has most recently been played by Chloë Grace Moretz in 2019’s animated movie, and earlier in live-action by Lisa Loring on TV and Christina Ricci in the films.
