Launched last April for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Devolver Digital’s Weird West is getting a current-gen upgrade next week for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. Announced via Twitter, developer Wolfeye Studios will release Weird West: Definitive Edition on May 8, which will feature 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, as well as the previously-released free updates to the game.
No word on if there will be a free Definitive Edition upgrade for those who own the last-gen versions of Weird West. More details on the upgrade are expected next week.
From the co-creators of Dishonored and Prey at WolfEye Studios, Weird West is a dark fantastical reimagining of the Wild West, where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures, each playing by their own rules and their own peculiar motives. Players will journey through the story of a group of atypical heroes, with each journey being unique and tailored to the actions taken.
Each playthrough is unique, as the game tailors the story to the player’s actions and past choices for an ideal dramatic arc. You’ll be faced with brutal choices and consequence that can’t be undone—including death itself.
Weird West is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. And if you’re interested in hearing more about the game, Neil and Jay are happy to oblige with the Safe Room Podcast.
The rumors around the cantina are true, Weird West arrives on PS5 and XB Series X/S on May 8 with all the bells and whistles!
