Fresh off the incredible first season of Showtime’s “Yellowjackets,” actress Sophie Thatcher has lined up a role in Rob Savage‘s (Host) upcoming Stephen King adaptation.
Savage will be adapting King’s short story The Boogeyman for Hulu and 20th Century Studios, and Deadline reports that Thatcher will star alongside Chris Messina (Birds of Prey).
Sophie Thatcher plays young Natalie in Showtime’s “Yellowjackets.”
Deadline adds, “Mark Heyman has been writing the script which Scott Beck & Bryan Woods (A Quiet Place) and Akela Cooper (Malignant) wrote the original drafts.”
In the film, “Still reeling from the tragic death of their mother, a teenage girl and her little brother find themselves plagued by a sadistic presence in their house and struggle to get their grieving father to pay attention before it’s too late.”
21 Laps’ Shawn Levy, Dan Levine & Dan Cohen are producing.
The original story was first published in 1973, before finding a home in Stephen King’s Night Shift collection in 1978. This will be the first time the tale has been adapted as a feature. Below, you can hear our own weekly King cast, The Losers’ Club, discuss the grisly parable in their past episode from 2017.
