Here we go again with talk of a Silent Hill remake. Only this time, instead of Konami leading the charge, this is a fan-made reinterpretation of what Silent Hill could look like if it harnessed the power of the Unreal Engine 5.
YouTube channel TeaserPlay, which has also done remake videos for The Last of Us, Max Payne, Manhunt 2 and more, dropped their take on a theoretical “what if?” for the Survival Horror classic, stressing that this trailer for Silent Hill is “just a Concept (Fan Project) trailer to show the power of Unreal Engine 5”. Despite this, their trailer does show a few seconds of gameplay, just to sell the idea that this is a real trailer for the game.
According to the channel, they used UE5’s Lumen renderer for the trailer, and placed the camera on a close third person to try and achieve “the deep and horrific atmosphere of the original game”. They also tried to edit the trailer in an unorthodox fashion to drive home that unsettling feeling of the original.
Personally, there should be more fog in Silent Hill. Then again, it’d end up obscuring much of the modelling work the team had done for the trailer. Ah, well.
Again, if you haven’t been up to speed on the latest round of rumours for Silent Hill, they involve Bloober Team and a remake of Silent Hill 2, for starters. There’s also talk of another in-development Silent Hill entry that had images leaked last month.
Thanks to DSOGaming for the heads up.
