Okay, so Resident Evil 4 broke away from the series’ use of fixed camera angles, which helped to reinvent the series. But what if you brought the fixed camera back? YouTuber Cycu1 decided to try just that with the Resident Evil 4 remake demo, and has now replicated the process in the final game.
Reported by DSOGaming, Cycu1’s camera tweak isn’t a mod that’s freely available at the present time. Rather, it’s just a video demonstrating the “What if?” scenario. Cycu1 (like many fans) is hoping that someone will come along and actually create an official mod for the masses.
Obviously, locking the camera adds a different perspective to Resident Evil 4, but also shifts the tone (as you would expect). This is also a case where if a mod were created, there would have to be a choice by the modder where the camera would be locked to achieve the intended look/feel.
There’s also the issue of the aiming reticle still relying on the over-the-shoulder camera, as well as certain segments of the game that would be complicated by the use of the fixed camera (such as surviving the waves of villagers before the bell is rung), but hey, that’s the reason for testing.
Resident Evil 4 is available now on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series. The beloved “The Mercenaries” mode was recently added to the game as free DLC.
