Zack Snyder‘s next movie for Netflix is a sci-fi epic titled Rebel Moon, and The Hollywood Reporter lets us know today that Rupert Friend (Separation) has now joined the cast.
Friend will play the main antagonist in Rebel Moon, which has a cast that also includes Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, and Sofia Boutella.
Stuart Martin, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, and Sky Yang also star.
In addition to directing, Snyder is also co-writing the script with Shay Hatten (Army of the Dead) and Kurt Johnstad (300). The film has been referred to as “an epic sci-fi fantasy.”

“A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. Desperate people dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.”
“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Zack Snyder recently told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
In fact, THR recently noted, the story was originally a Star Wars pitch!
