If you couldn’t get enough zombies in Call of Duty: Warzone (even after Godzilla, King Kong and even The Terminator), Raven Software and Infinity Ward are bringing them back in the time-limited “Rebirth of the Dead“. This time, with an added twist for those who are keen to play as the living dead themselves.
Available today, “Rebirth of the Dead” is the first content of the new Warzone season. This mode allows Operators to become zombies in a unique 40-player Quads match. Operators who are killed during the match are revived as zombies, complete with their own set of moves and abilities. These include a Charged Jump, an EMP Blast, and Gas Grenades.
As in the previous Zombie Royale, if you manage to kill an Operator as a zombie in “Rebirth of the Dead”, you are given Zombies Syringes, which is the antidote for their undead condition. Collecting four syringes cures the zombie, and returns them to being an Operator. This time around, syringes can also be found in Supply Boxes, Medical Supplies, and Buy Stations. Speaking of which, zombies can now open Supply Boxes, Resurgence Supply Boxes, and even doors. Performing a Finishing Move on an Operator as a zombie will grant you four syringes, effectively curing you in one move.
And, as an additional twist on the Zombie Royale, the new Infestation mechanic has been introduced in “Rebirth of the Dead” that puts Operators in a position to fight off dozens of recently-respawned zombies to survive the final moments of the match. As zombies are killed, a new Infestation meter slowly fills. Once it’s full, Infestation begins. At the start of an Infestation, every spectator — those zombies who were killed — will be respawned.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series.
